Although boasting a record of success in his previous position, he had no prior experience in communicating with the investment community or the media. Two-day immersion training in delivering powerful presentations
Three Sharon Merrill professionals – a senior partner skilled in executive coaching, a former securities analyst and a former journalist – took the new CFO through a two-day series of true-to-life communications exercises targeted to the company’s actual business issues. They also worked with the CFO to better align his investor slide presentation with the company’s current positioning and messaging, providing him with live and recorded video feedback.
Results
A surge in investor requests for meetings with management
The training concluded just prior to the company’s next investor conference call. Those listening to the call found the CFO more enthusiastic, polished and professional in delivering his prepared remarks, and more focused and dynamic in responding to questions. For his part, the CFO felt more confident and composed during the call, and came away from the experience more comfortable about his performance than after the first call a quarter earlier. Longer term, he became more effective in communicating with investors and the financial media in group presentations, one-on-one meetings and phone discussions.
